#1 Let’s go!

It starts! I can hardly believe it or rather not realize it. It’s still kind of hard for me though. I’ll really process it in the next few days or weeks.
The farewell group is small because many of them have to work. Nevertheless, I have already received calls from many people. I’m slowly beginning to understand that this could be a bit bigger project than just going to Gelsenkirchen, well, wait and see.

My first goal is about 100 km away (really great without a year of training), I don’t think I’ll make it, but I’m still going anyway 🙂

The WDR was also still to visit and I actually made it into television!

The first day was the hardest I have experienced. It was between 3 – 5 degrees, with rain/hail, and headwind, it went almost only uphill, and the route was incredibly long. I was often allowed to push my bike up.
My motivation was at the zero point and so really joy did not arise. I was shivering with cold. I wanted to go home to bed. Nevertheless, I drove on and fought (!) from kilometer to kilometer.
I also cheated, I drove the first 15 km because I knew anyway that I wouldn’t be able to do it.

At 10 p.m., a few kilometers before the destination, when my cell phone battery ran out and I got electricity in a chip shop, I found my destination (acquaintances).

Now I’m in the Sauerland, the sun is shining and a beautiful view of the wooded mountains is in front of me (photos will come in the next post). I was told how the deer run around here from time to time, what village life is like, that buses run less frequently here, that people rely on cars, that it is very difficult to cycle here, and so on. Really great little story.

My feet hurt a little from walking, my calves are sore, my knee hurts, my thighs are heavy and my back hurts. But apart from that everything is good. I rest (probably 1 day) and then drive a not-very long and hard way. I have to get used to it slowly. But then my journey continues in peace, it should even be nice and warm, oh wonderful 🙂

As soon as I have the internet again, I will post another article here.

  4. He, nicht übertreiben Junge.

Gute Fahrt!

As you have predicted, the first step was almost too big. I hope the next steps – or better: “rides” – will be better! Have a good trip!

    Volker

    1. Hallo Zusammen 🙂
Danke schön! Der nächste Bericht sollte heute Abend irgendwann mal kommen. Muss halt nur noch gegengeprüft werden. Alles Gute und Gruß!
